Message From CEO
26 years ago, a small but passionate group of individuals set up Community Support Concern (CSC) with the aim of serving the poor and underprivileged sections of Pakistani society. With meager resources at their disposal but a strong commitment to the social and economic empowerment of the marginalized, they began working diligently towards this goal. As 2016 ends, it gives me great pleasure to observe that the hard work and perseverance of those who joined us in this long journey has paid off, transforming this group into one the well respected organizations in Pakistan’s development sector.2016 has particularly been a remarkable and exciting year due to a number of landmarks that we as an organization have reached during its course.

The most important of these is our registration as a Not for Profit entity under Section 42 of the Companies Ordinance 1984. Equally importantly, 2016 has also been witness to CSC attaining the status of a Non- Banking Microfinance Company. through the vision of its leadership, the oversight and vigilance of its Board of Directors and the skill and dedication of its staff, CSC has managed not only to devise innovative mechanisms for the financial inclusion of the economically marginalised but also implemented through its field organization rooted in underserved communities. Moreover, the synergies between different levels of our organization has ensured that finance is not simply treated as a monetary loan by our borrowers but becomes a vehicle for their social and economic empowerment. Both CSCís registration under Section 42 as well as a MicroFinance Company are a recognition by the government and the sector of our holistic approach to financing the poor and marginalized.

CSC has made pioneering contributions in areas besides microfinance in 2016 as well. Most notably, we provided both our female staff and borrowers with scooters in order to enhance their physical mobility, a seemingly small change but with important consequences in a conservative but rapidly changing Pakistan. Moreover, we aim to continue with this endeavor and particularly focus on women in colleges and universities so as to play our part in making the education of our girls more accessible, an essential element of any developmental success. Our activities have also included continuing our earlier work on fighting gender based violence, skills development as part of loan conditionality as well as the disbursement of the Prime Ministerís interest Free Loan Scheme, making 2016 an eventful and highly productive year.

It goes without saying that none of this would have been possible without our wonderful and dedicated team at all levels of the organization. From the Board of Directors who have ensured that all our activities are in accordance with the organization's mission and objectives, to the Senior Management for their leadership skills to the hundreds of field officers and staff members who diligently and heroically engage with underserved communities and provide necessary services to them. as CSC begins a new phase in its journey, I must express how honored I feel at having been a part of this organization. Although there is still a long way to go in the pursuit of progressive socio-economic transformation, CSC can justly be proud of its modest contribution toward this noble endeavor. I am looking forward to another exciting year with you all.
